Delete Your Account

You can delete your HalalCook account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains how to make a deletion request and what happens to your data when you do.

1. Who operates HalalCook

HalalCook is operated by Kayani Labs, a trading name of Kayani Group Ltd, registered in England & Wales (company no. 16415459). Data deletion requests are handled by our privacy team at privacy@halalcook.app.

2. How to delete your account

Option A — Delete directly in the app (fastest)

1. Open the HalalCook app on your device.
2. Tap the Profile tab (bottom navigation).
3. Tap Halal preferences (⚙️) to open Settings.
4. Scroll to Account and tap Delete Account.
5. Confirm when prompted.

Your account and data are deleted immediately.

Option B — Email request

If you cannot access the app, email us at privacy@halalcook.app with the subject line “Account Deletion Request” and the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 7 days.

3. What data is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently erased:

• Account credentials — your email address, password hash, and authentication tokens.
• Profile — your display name, avatar, and account settings.
• Halal & dietary preferences — all religious and dietary preference data (special-category data under UK GDPR).
• Saved recipes — every recipe you have bookmarked or saved.
• Cookbooks — all cookbooks you have created and their contents.
• Meal plans — all weekly meal plans and shopping lists.
• Import history — records of recipes you have imported and your usage quota.
• Social data — follows, ratings, likes, and Family Kitchen memberships.

4. What data may be retained

After deletion we may retain the following for a limited period only where required by law or legitimate business need:

• Anonymised, aggregated analytics — data that cannot be linked back to you (e.g. total number of recipes imported on a given day). Retained indefinitely as it carries no personal identifiers.
• Legal or compliance records — if we are legally required to keep specific records (e.g. evidence of consent or a regulatory obligation), those records are retained only for the minimum period required by law, then deleted.

No other data is kept after your deletion request is processed.
