A homemade copycat of Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed doughnut — light yeast-raised dough dipped in a simple sugar glaze. Not an official Krispy Kreme recipe (that formula is proprietary). Two ingredients — the vanilla extract in the dough and in the glaze — are mushbooh per HalalCook's rulebook; swaps are suggested below.
Warm the milk to about 105°F (40°C) and stir in the yeast with a pinch of the sugar. Let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Whisk in the egg, egg yolk, melted butter, vanilla extract (or the alcohol-free swap), remaining sugar and salt. Add the flour gradually and knead (by hand or stand mixer) until you have a smooth, elastic, slightly sticky dough, about 8 minutes.
